Balmain Is Launching a New Fragrance: Blanc Galaxie

TO THE NINES: Blanc Galaxie is the newest fragrance to launch into Les Éternels de Balmain collection, beginning Saturday. “Blanc Galaxie is a powerful symbol of hope and confidence,” said Olivier Rousteing, creative director of Balmain, in a statement. “It is a white canvas to fully express who you are to yourself, and to the world.” Les Éternels de Balmain was introduced as a collection of eight all-gender fragrances in late August 2024, marking the fashion house’s return to the world of perfume. Four eaux de parfum in the line were completely new creations, while the remainder were historical concepts, like the reimagined Ivoire and Ébène scents. When he was appointed to the house in 2011, his grandmother reminded him she used to wear Ivoire, dating from 1979. Pierre Balmain’s story has always been intermingled with scent. His fashion house began in 1945, and its first fragrance Élysées 64-83 came out a year later, followed by Vent Vert in 1947. Olivier Rousteing Marion Berrin/WWD Blanc Galaxie, created with Givaudan perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux, is a fragrance with five citrus notes — including Buddha’s Hand, bergamot, cedrat, vert de mandarine and lime — meant to evoke the brilliance of an eclipse. The scent also includes notes of magnolia, cardamom and patchouli. “A true awakening of the senses, Blanc Galaxie embodies the invigorating transformation of celestial events, infusing new energy and light,” said Claire Fremont, vice president, marketing at Balmain Beauty, at licensee Estée Lauder Cos. Blanc Galaxie’s white striated bottle is inspired by that of Élysées 64-83. The 50 ml. fragrance, priced at $260, will be sold in Balmain boutiques and online, plus in select fashion and beauty retailers.
